What is your educational and work background?

I attended undergrad at Iowa State and vet school at Univ. of Illinois. Out of school, I worked at Bone Animal Hospital, a five-doctor practice in Chicago, for 10 years. After a 3-year stint at Mount Plaines Animal Hospital in Mt. Prospect and a brief stop at Animal Medical Center in Skokie, I purchased Alpine Animal Hospital (Lake Zurich) in 2000.

What made you decide to become a vet?

I wanted to be in the medical field but didn’t want to work on people!

Why did you decide to join the Companion team?

After 23 years at Alpine, it was time to transition to something less strenuous. Companion provided the opportunity to continue practicing without the rigors of management.

What is the best thing about being a vet?

The people that work in the industry are universally genuine and nice. That and the puppies.

What is the most unusual pet you have helped treat?

When I was on an ophthalmology rotation in vet school, I had a lion cub that was getting a prosthetic eye as my patient.

What are some of your favorite activities outside of work?

Watching Chicago sports, crossword puzzles.
